    1. Hi Jayne!

Are you booked in a hotel already?

Meals along the Rizal Avenue restaurant row cost about P150 per head. If more than that, then it's definitely for sharing or because it's lobster, steak or prawns.

City tour is P600 per head, Dolphin Watching and Firefly Watching is around P1,000-1,200 per head, Honda Bay Island Hopping is around that price too.

I hope I answered your questions. Let me know if you have more.

      have a great vacation!

  2. HI!
I was wondering, all of the things you mentioned to do in Palawan, can you do them all from being based in puerto princessa, or to do some, you need to stay in another part of palawan if they are too far away?
Want to try and minimise hotel hopping! Also any good recommendations of where to stay?
    Thanks a million!

  4. Hello, my family and I are taking a trip to the Philippines and we want to go to Palawan. We want to go to El Nido and to Puerta Princesa. How far apart are they and is that even possible to do on a 4 day trip there? We want to stay in a hotel but it does not have to be a 5-Star. I am overwhelmed because I just want to make sure I am not going to get stiffed if I reserve a place and they take my money. Please help.

    Thank you

    1. El Nido is 4 hours away from Puerto Princesa CIty. Purple Fountain, a good Bed and Breakfast in Puerto just 2 mins away from the airport has a sister inn in El Nido - Marina Garden. Rates are reasonable - less than 2,000 pesos per night for 2, with breakfast. Check out their websites.

  5. Hello! I'm planning a trip to Palawan in October of this year. I'm really excited about it, but I don't know where to start or what to do. I will be in Palawan for anywhere between 8 - 10 days at the end of october. I'm pretty much open to any activities but I know I want to go diving for sure. Do you have any recommandations?

  6. Will you be traveling alone, or with a group?

There are some very nice diving spots in Puerto Princesa, El Nido and Coron. Which part of Palawan will you visit?

  7. I will be traveling to Puerto Princesa this August for about a week doing a solo trip. I want to avoid hotel jumping if possible. But I am really looking for a week of snorkeling, scuba diving, and the UR. Any suggestions, tips, and advice you can give would be a great help!

  8. Hi! I'll be going to Puerto Prinsesa next week. We haven't booked any tours yet, just wondering if there will be people offering that when we arrive at the airport?

  9. Hi,

Thank you for creating this wonderful blog. I was fortunate to visit Palawan (PPS and El Nido) twice and a blast. What made me come back aside from the top destinations are actually the people who are so nice. I hope to visit again soon and stay for a week or two. Hope you can visit my blog too :)

Thanks again and keep up the good work!

  10. Hi,

We are going back to the Philippines on 28th March 2015 and back to New Zealand on 17th April. This is towards holy week and we would love to visit Palawan. Which week is better, before holy week or after? Also, would it be wise to spend 2 days in Puerto princess and 2 days in Dos Palmas? How about El Nido, can we do this as day tour? Thanks

    1. It is better to come after Holy Week, since there are so many people during Holy Week at the resorts. Dos Palmas can be done with a day trip, El Nido would be good for 4-5 days but 2 days will give you a good experience already. Puerto Princesa is fun for 2-3 days, depending on what you want to do. You can do most of the snorkeling in El Nido. Dos Palmas offers a lunch buffet, biking and resort stuff. Puerto Princesa offers the Underground River Tour , the Irawan Zip Line, some good restaurants and some shopping.

For hotel recommendations, there are good accommodations that can fit every budget.

  11. Hi! My cousin and I are planning to visit Palawan on May15-18, 2015. What is better----book a tour package or tour-by-ourselves? I feel that by tour package, time on every point of destination will be limited but no need to worry about the transportation. On the other hand if going by personal planning, I have also concerns such as: transportation, boat renting, entrance fees/permits.

Is there any electricity rotational brown-out in major places of Palawan like El Nido and Puerto Princesa?

    Thank you very much!

    1. A tour package would be hectic and you might not be able to visit the other places.
Recently, ten (10) taxi cabs have started going around the city. There is also the tricycle and the multicabs which are cheaper. What activities do you plan to do? Snorkeling is okay in Honda Bay but if you are an avid diver, El Nido is better. There are zip lines in Puerto Princesa and good caving. The Underground River Tour and Honda Bay Tour will be more convenient if done through a travel agency as there are permits, etc. Everything else can be done on your own. There are van rentals everywhere and some hotels have shuttles. There are major brown outs in El Nido but you will not notice it since it happens during the day when you will be outdoors. In Puerto Princesa, occasional brown outs happen but if you are in a hotel or a good bed and breakfast, they will have a generator. I would recommend Microtel Puerto Princesa for an international standard and comfortable beachfront hotel and Purple Fountain for a bed and breakfast inn 2 mins away from the airport. Both places can take care of your tours and help you get around with your preferred mode of transport.
